Summer Reading Activities 2023
Summer is a busy time and your child cannot attend every program available. Below describes the library summer reading programs and age appropriateness so that you may choose which activity would be the most fun for your family. You are welcome to attend all programs.
Cooking classes: For all kids 8 and up every Monday in June at 10:00. Your child will learn how to read a recipe, measure ingredients, safe use a knife and pick up a few kitchen skills needed to prepare a simple meal.
Art for Kids: This program is for kids 6 and up to experience using a few different art mediums that they may have never used before. The kids will make and create art for the Summer Reading Art Fair June 27.
Magic Show June 7 10:00 at the community center. All ages welcome.
Gardening: the kids will plant some flower seeds then keep a small diary on what is happening to the plant. On the second class they will take their plant home and observe it there. They may put their seedling outdoors if they choose to. All ages welcome.
STEM Kits: Every Friday at 10:00 a.m. children 6 and up. This activity time will be used to explore some STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). A teacher will be here to help your child explore the kits. STEM kits can be checked out.
Every Child Ready to Read. 10:00 every Friday through July 14. For all pre-K children and parent/caregivers. You will learn how to work with your child so they may have a successful school year. Using books, letter magnets, songs, puppets and many library learning tools found right here your child will be well on the way to enjoy learning.
Outside games and chalk art: activities consist of outdoor games and being artistic on the sidewalk with chalk. Both are on Wednesdays at 10:00.
VFW Flag Day: June 14, at 10:00 a.m. Flag Day the VFW members will be here to give a program on the American flag, the history, how to fold it, take care of it and use it in a ceremony. All ages.
Stream Team Water Table: June 15, Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Kids will learn about streams and how human behavior can affect streams and waterways for a long time. Kids will learn about taking care of their water. All ages welcome.
Music Appreciation: June 22 at 10:00 a.m. Listen and learn about music and some use musical instruments. All ages welcome.
June 30 is the last day for planned activities. Kids can keep reading through July 14 for prizes.
Story time runs through July every Wednesday at 10:00.
